Hi! My name is Vivienne and I am so happy that you decided to drop by my blog (tell your friends).
If you want to read about my adventures as a semi-reformed crazy hoarder with a stupid blog full of ugly pictures … you are at the right place!
If you are looking for my short-term rental advocacy site, go here.
Actually, I’m not a hoarder but I have a lot of stuff … and I’m just a teensy bit crazy, but in a life-of-the-party kind of way. Go to the FAQ’s to get the skinny on me and what I do, but here’s the short version:
I am a mom, writer, ceramic artist, pole dance instructor and property manager. And I have chickens. I am a minimalist by nature but two kids and a garage-sale addicted husband with an eBay business has wreaked havoc on our home.
In December of 2012 I decided to get rid of at least ten things a day for a whole year. I take pictures of what I purge, say what I’m doing with the stuff (donate, sell, trash, recycle) and blog about what it means to me. Sometimes I write about my stupid dog, my fucking cats, my family, pole dancing or Boulder randomness.
In December of 2013 I completed my mission, having gotten rid of 7303 items and blogged about it (almost) every day. Read about it here.
The numbers in parenthesis at the top of each post is a running tally of how much I’ve purged to-date.
My readers keep me honest and on-track (subscribe to my blog, like me on Facebook) and the more of you there are the harder it is for me to quietly give up my project and go back to shoving crap under the stairs.
I love comments and I’d really like to hear about what you are up to, especially if you are into cutting the crap, too. You don’t have to read this post again, but tell your friends. Please.
Tell me you did the art work?
Cute, it looks just like your life!
Her name is Katie Kolupke, I found her on my mom’s Yahoo group. She is the best!
I got a phone call from my wife when she was driving in to work this morning and I was just putting on my cold weather wear to head into work. I figured it was a flat tire or something based on the hour…but instead she was calling to tell me to get online immediately upon arrival at work and look up your blog as she had just heard about it on the radio…so glad I did. In what little I have read, you have an interesting voice that lacks the saccharine that many niche bloggers have. As we are on our own journey to live well with less (just trying to surround ourselves with only what we love, cause life is too short for excess shit in the way) we both found your work entertaining and will be back for more…
Thanks!
Wow! Thanks! What radio show was she listening to? I had no idea I was being mentioned on air. That is friggin’ cool!
BTW, I’m totally printing this out and sticking it to my mirror.
I’m not sure I get the import of this introductory bonus post–but then again, if it’s working out to bring you new, like-minded and simpatico reader…you may be sure that I’m following the process, more & more impressed all the time… so I “snookered” you a few times here? I love
it…
It’s not for you, it’s for the hoards of new followers I’m about to get. It’s to orient new readers, otherwise my blog may seem a bit too rando.
I’m waiting for Frank to croak first.
I’ve totally been inspired by you! I heard about you on a radio station called Air1 and I love what you’re doing. I’ve told my fammily about you, since we’re all sorta pack rats :/ I’m about to have a baby and my house needs some good de-cluttering to make room!
That is so awesome! Send me pictures of what you are getting rid of and I’d be delighted to post them. Where do you live? I’d love to contact Air1 and give them a thank you. Thanks for reading.

Just found you–looking forward to reading and getting tips on “not shoving things under the stairs,” a necessary bit of info, particularly since this house has no stairs (cue scary cobweb music)… 😀
Howdy from Nashville! Nice meeting you on the blogosphere. Any friend of Mancakes is a friend of mine – so glad you stopped by my blog!
Mancakes is the shit. I hope she finds inspiration again because I miss her writing. Thanks for the follow!
You’re so welcome. And I miss her writing, too!
