Project 3650: Items 83-124

Just a fraction of today's haul!

Just a fraction of today’s haul!

For this whole thing to work I have to not only identify and blog about what I want to get rid of. I actually have to get rid of it. Those mini video tapes I haven’t looked at in years but have been sitting on the counter? I have to throw them away. Even after all that effort it was a little hard. I hope it gets easier.

I think one of the reasons I have a hard time parting with things is that they have a story. Some of the stories are monumental (this used to belong to my grandmother) or more personal (I wore this in the hospital after I had my babies) or denial based (I don’t want to admit that I am never going to fit in those pants ever again). Whatever the case, part of me wants to honor my past. My hope is that by photographing each thing and writing something short about it, I can feel okay about letting go with it physically. The digital image and memory can be relegated to that great shoebox in the sky (aka The Cloud) should I ever need to take a jaunt down memory lane.

Items on eBay auction will close around December 14th. Please feel free to bid. Boulderites can pick up winning auctions to save on shipping. Anything that hasn’t sold is Free To A Good Home (FTAGH).

The best way to get rid of stuff, give them to people who need them for their kids. Out the door tonight!

Love Daniel Craig but I can see the pictures on-line if I need them.

Lonny brought the whip home, WTF, sports tape for my Plantar Fasciitis (didn't help) massagers (never get used) candle, a bag of shells and a shell bracelet.

Lonny brought the whip home, WTF?, sports tape for my Plantar Fasciitis (didn’t help) massagers (never get used because I don’t want to massage myself, I want someone to give me a massage) candle, a bag of shells and shell bracelets. Given that my friend Andrew just posted on FB that if one should ever find herself in the neighborhood of a bag of shells and a glue gun, she should walk away.

Three white silk scarves. I planned to dye them for a costume but never got around to it.

Our old nanny, AK Mullen, made this plate for Lonny. She also gave us an album with these pictures. It was so thoughtful but I need more space. It was 100% appreciated and valued.

Our former nanny, AK Mullen, made this plate for Lonny. She also gave us an album with these same pictures. It was so thoughtful and I can’t tell you how much I appreciated her and all the extra effort she went through to let us know that she cared about us. This gift is 100% appreciated and valued and it is time to let go. Her biggest gift was what she did for me and my babies. That gift will never go away.

Modeling clay. I am not chill enough to let my kids "create" aka Smear clay all over the table and into the carpet. I signed them up for pottery instead.

Cute little purse for going out at night.

Cute little purse for going out at night. I bought it because it is red and red purses always make me think of my grandmother. She loved to say, “Honey, red is a neutral color.”

I could count each piece separately, but I don't want to cheat.

I could count each piece separately, but I don’t want to cheat. It only counts as  one thing a day. I photographed each piece of art and started an album on my iPhoto. Now they can look at their work on my iPad. Frankly, it stands a better chance of being seen that way than if I put it a box.
